Mini-ring – Leominster Priory Bellringers will help you to ring handbells – an ancient craft which has a 1,500-year history, originating with early Christian missionaries in 6th century. While initially used to mark time and signal dangers, by the 10th century this had evolved into large, tower-mounted bells for calling people to church, and marking special occasions. By the 17th century in England, it evolved into a complex, competitive sport known as “change ringing,” featuring mathematical permutation.
