Talk: The Viking, his Wife and the Lost Queen of Wales.
Talk at 6pm in the Priory by Peter Mcintosh

Peter McIntosh interprets an Anglo-Saxon document from the Hereford Gospels bringing to life the surprising power of women in this area.
‘At the rear of the Hereford Gospels is a document written a thousand years ago. It recounts the efforts of a female landowner to keep her land and property, despite a case being brought against her in the Shire court for its return by her son.
Who was she? Was she successful? What is the connection to Welsh Royalty? These questions, and more, will be explored by an examination of these too often overlooked documents looking at what they can tell us about the History of Herefordshire at the very end of the Anglo-Saxon period.’
